A Journey of Courage and Compassion
Princess Ghida has a strong commitment to health care in general and to cancer care in particular. As a newlywed, Princess Ghida faced a life-changing experience when her husband Prince Talal was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at the age of twenty-six. For the next two years, the young couple battled the disease, fighting for Prince Talal's life. Thankfully, Prince Talal made a full recovery and Princess Ghida credits that difficult time with strengthening her resolve to make world-class cancer care cancer care available to every family in Jordan.
In 2001, the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) and Center (KHCC) were established by Royal Decree to combat cancer in Jordan and the Arab world. HM King Abdullah II appointed Princess Ghida to serve as Chairperson of KHCF/KHCC, overseeing a Board of Trustees comprised of a dedicated group of prominent Jordanian business, political and social leaders who serve on a voluntary basis.
“My mission is for every Arab patient to have access to the very best state-of-the-art
treatment and for every person at the King Hussein Cancer Center to know that their
loved one is in the best of hands.”
