The Library also has a renowned private collection of Islamic manuscripts housed in an ancient building that dates back to the Mamluk dynasty.

The Khalidiyyah was originally established in 1899 and reopened in 2015, and is home to 1,900 manuscripts written in Arabic, Turkish and Farsi on a variety of subjects such as Islamic theology, law, and philosophy. The Khalidiyyah was started by Princess Ghida’s great grandmother, Khadijah al Khalidi
